How to Choose a Headset Adaptor

If your phone...    Then you need...
...has an RJ22 modular headset port (see below)  ...a headset NTN adaptor cord
...has a 2.5mm headset port jack (see below)  ...a 2.5mm adaptor cord
...has no headset port  ...a headset amplifier adaptor

How to Locate a Headset Port

Please note: these instructions are generalized.  It is always best to
check with your operational manual or with your phone provider

  • Look at the bottom of your phone set, in the area where the cords plug into the phone

  • There should be one cord connected from your wall jack and another curly cord connected to your handset, look for a third port or plug-in

  • A headset port may be the same size as the handset plug-in (RJ22 modular)

  • Or a headset port may be a small circular hole 2.5mm in diameter

  • A headset port may appear at the back or on one of the sides of the phone set

  • The port is usually marked with the word 'Headset' or a picture of a headset

  • Some phone sets have one jack for both handset and headset.  Only one or the other can be used at any time. If you wish to have the ability to switch between the two, you will need an amplifier. Amplifiers have the ability to switch between handset and headset

  • Your phone set may need some programming to activate the headset port.  Consult your operational manual or your phone provider
